The Thyssen-Bornemisza is a very important museum of old and modern paintings, located in the beautiful Palacio de Villahermosa. It was inaugurated in 1.992 and, with the Prado and the Reina Sofia, they form the called “Triángulo del Arte” (“Art Triangle”), in the Paseo del Prado.
At this museum are exhibited the most valuable pictures from the private collection owned by the Thyssen-Bornemisza family and collected during the last 7 decades. The different styles go from the gothic (XIV and XV Centuries) to the pop-art and the figurative painting from the 80’s, going through the rococo, impressionism, fauvism, cubism…
In 2.013 the Thyssen-Bornemisza was the 5th most visited museum in Spain, and is placed the 61 in the ranking of the 100 most visited museums in the world (according to The Art Newspaper).
And this is due to the amazing permanent collection, but also to the interesting temporary exhibitions and other activities organized.
It is always advisable to check the Museum’s web site in order to be informed about the organized exhibitions, the already finished ones and the ones that are going to start (www.museothyssen.org)
